Clinics
As an educator having taught music privately for over 30 years, I am passionate about sharing my love of music and horses with other riders. If you want to experience the joy of bonding with your horse through music, then Fortissimo clinics are for you. Join with like-minded people and be prepared to connect and have fun. Clinics are available Australia wide by request. Each clinic is individually tailored to the participating clubs’ requirements and clinics can be conducted over 1 or 2 days. Spectators are involved in every step of the process and riding participants will complete the clinic with a professionally edited freestyle for their level of competition.
Session 1.
As a group, choreography will be designed specifically for each individual horse and rider combination required of their level.
We will incorporate compulsory movements, time limits, elements of risk and degree of difficulty and learn how to design choreography that is fluid, balanced and easy to follow with innovative patters that make good use of the arena highlighting the horses’ strengths.
Riders will then have the opportunity to ride through their newly designed choreography to check for time limits, flow and rideability, making any adjustments as necessary.
Session 2.
Using a demonstration rider, I present an education session based on music selection and tempo matching. In this session we dive into the intricacies of music suitability with regards to the horse’s personality, breed, colour, style and movement as well as the importance of choosing a theme.
I will then demonstrate how to correctly match the paces for each gait using an interactive Q&A between myself and clinic participants.
In conclusion I will present a “here’s one I prepared earlier” freestyle which will tie in the two sessions and show participants what the finished polished product looks like.
I am then happy to field any remaining questions.
Session 2 can be done separately purely as an education session/demonstration for clubs.
Session 3.
Riding participants have the opportunity to ride through a selection of previously short-listed music for each pace after which they can then chose the final pieces for their freestyle. This gives riders the opportunity to see what the music “feels” like to ride to as it can be quite different to just watching it with a video. It also gives the horse a chance to hear it as certain horses can be quite reactive to different instrumentation so it’s important to know before we start editing.
I then return to my studio and edit the freestyles for each individual rider which I then send out as an MP3 on completion. CD’s available on request.
