Choreography
I will work in close consultation with you to design choreography that specifically enhances your horse’s best movements and paces using lines and patterns together that are rideable, interesting and also make sense.
Your test will be fluid, balanced and harmonious to ride and pleasure to watch. I will also make sure it is within the time limits appropriate for you particular level and that all compulsory movements have been included.
The Music
It is critically important that your music has a theme and that it also has continuity with regards to genre and instrumentation. This is your opportunity to truly showcase your horse’s personality through music so really think about what sort of atmosphere you want to create. What story do you want to tell and what do you want people to “feel” when they watch your performance. The choice of music is only limited by the imagination. The more variety you are open to, the more dynamic and original your performance will be.
It is also important to choose music that has the right “feel” for each pace. For example, the walk music should convey a sense of calm. A chance to breath and regroup.
Tempo Matching
As a classically trained musician, I make it a priority to match the music chosen to your horse’s different gaits. This is especially important, as judges have been instructed to watch the footfalls of the horse’s front legs to see how they correspond to the music. This is one of the most significant factors that you will be assessed on, but how often do we see music that doesn’t fit?
Editing
Editing is done using the latest computer technology, so together with my musical knowledge and expertise, your freestyle will be seamless and fluid using genuine musicality for transitions not cross-fades. The phrasing of the music will be matched to the different movements of the test creating a mosaic of music as well as music cues so you know exactly where you are at.
